The likely exit, assessed before you invest.
A buyout is underwritten on its exit. We analyze how comparable companies were sold, to whom, and after what growth, so the deal team can test the exit assumption in the model before signing.
Comparable exits show what a buyer will eventually pay for, and how much growth it takes to get there.
Comparable exits
Historical sales of companies similar to the target in size, sector, and customer profile, drawn from market and transaction data.
Acquirer types
The types of buyers that acquired those companies, such as strategic acquirers, larger financial sponsors, or platforms buying add-ons, and what each type was paying for: customers, channels, products, or capabilities.
Growth before the sale
The growth that preceded those exits: for example, how much revenue increased between an investment round and the acquisition, and over what period. This sets a benchmark for the value-creation plan.
Buyer interest today
Current strategic-buyer activity in the target's market: recent acquisitions, stated expansion priorities, and the categories acquirers are entering or leaving.
Limits
Exit analysis describes past transactions and current market activity. It is not a valuation, a forecast of exit value, or investment advice.
What it gives your team
01
An exit thesis you can test
The exit multiple and buyer universe in the model are compared with what comparable companies actually achieved.
02
A growth target tied to the exit
The value-creation plan aims at the growth that comparable exits required.
03
Early sight of the likely buyers
Knowing which acquirers are active today informs the hold period and the plan.
